Jean B. Bingham
Jean B. Bingham is a global humanitarian leader who served as the 17th Relief Society General President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She championed global humanitarian efforts focused on education, health, and the empowerment of women and families. Her leadership extended across continents, including service visits in the Middle East, Africa, and throughout the world.
Her support helped make our first project, the Nursing and Midwifery Development Center (NMDC), a reality. During her tenure as the Relief Society General President, she visited the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and witnessed firsthand the urgent need for a dedicated training facility for nurses and midwives. After meeting with NMDC Executive Director Eva Said, Jean’s advocacy was instrumental in Latter-day Saint Charities awarding the grant that funded the construction of the NMDC’s state-of-the-art facility—now a hub of continued professional development for nurses, midwives, and other healthcare professionals.
A lifelong educator and humanitarian, Jean holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in teaching from National Louis University. She previously taught English as a second language and worked as a nurse’s aid. She and her husband, Bruce, have two daughters and welcomed many foster children into their home over the years.
Jean continues to inspire global initiatives that strengthen communities, uplift women, and expand access to compassionate, high-quality care.
