Fund the Future:
Help Us Establish an Endowment
When the Nursing and Midwifery Development Foundation began, we made a deliberate decision: to build for permanence from the start. Rather than rely solely on short-term giving, we are establishing an endowment designed to sustain life-saving training for generations. That work starts now, with a small group of early investors who see the long view. These founding donors are not just supporting today’s training; they are helping build the financial foundation that will protect and grow this impact over time. As the endowment grows, it will generate reliable, annual funding for our Center, ensuring that nurses and midwives continue to be trained, year after year, no matter the circumstances.
So, how do we fund the work today?
From the beginning, this work has been carried forward by a small group of deeply committed supporters. Early on, much of the operational funding came from within, most notably through the generosity of Eva’s husband, Nazim, whose support helped establish and sustain the work at the NMDC. Alongside him, a core group of American donors, including many of our board members, have faithfully contributed to keep training moving forward. Their commitment has built the foundation we stand on today. Now, the opportunity is to expand that base of support and establish an endowment that will sustain this work far into the future.
We need visionary investors.
These supporters have chosen to fund the foundation behind the work: the operational costs, the development of programs, and the early concept of the endowment itself. Their multi-year commitment provides the stability needed to plan, strengthen, and expand training at the NMDC. But their role goes beyond funding. They are trusted advisors, advocates, and partners in shaping what this organization is becoming.
Like any startup, we need visionary investors who see not just what exists today, but what is possible over time. Because while we cannot offer stock options or the promise of a big buyout to our generous investors, the return on this investment is measured in lives changed, including mothers who survive childbirth, babies who go home safely, and providers equipped with the skills to deliver care with confidence and dignity.
How much are we seeking?
To fully fund the center, current annual costs are $200,000.
Our initial endowment goal is $2 million.
With a disciplined 5% annual draw, this fund would generate $100,000 each year, covering half of our operating costs and providing a stable, reliable foundation for the Centre’s future.
We need you.
To secure the future of the NMDC, we must expand our circle of supporters. We are seeking a handful of individuals who see the long view and are willing to help establish a permanent endowment for this life-saving training. If this vision resonates with you, I invite you to reach out directly. I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you and explore what it would look like to build this together.
