Colin Poly

Research Consultant

Colin Poly serves as a Research Consultant for the Nursing and Midwifery Development Foundation, where he integrates scientific inquiry, community engagement, and global health research to support the Foundation’s mission of strengthening nursing and midwifery education and workforce development. His interdisciplinary background allows him to bridge academic rigor with human-centered practice, translating research into actionable strategies to empower healthcare professionals.

Colin holds an Honors Bachelor of Science in Anthropology with a Health Emphasis from the University of Utah, where he also completed minors in Chemistry, Integrative Human Biology, Global Health, and Ceramics. His undergraduate honors thesis examined how material science and cultural practices intersect in the chemistry of ceramic glazes—reflecting his belief that innovation in global health and art alike emerges through curiosity, experimentation, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

His research experience spans both laboratory and community contexts. As part of the Utah HERO Project, Colin worked as a mobile testing clinician and community outreach interviewer during the COVID-19 pandemic, conducting fieldwork across Utah to gather demographic data, facilitate antibody testing, and engage residents in public health initiatives. Internationally, he has contributed to global health research in the Spiti Valley of India, where he assisted studies on women’s quality of life, menstrual hygiene management, and periodontal health.

At the Nursing and Midwifery Development Centre in Erbil, Iraq, Colin has supported grant writing efforts, educational program design, and operational tasks—helping secure funding and advocate for sustainable healthcare development. Through his work with NMDF, he continues to advance evidence-based initiatives that promote equity, education, and access within the nursing and midwifery professions.
